Parenting Anxiousness

This class is a guided book study of Anxious Kids, Anxious Parents by Reid Wilson, PhD and Lynn Lyons, LICSW for parents and caregivers of children ages 3-12 who have questions or concerns about their child(ren)’s anxiousness, whether or not their child has a clinical diagnosis and/or is currently in therapy. Among other signs, children may be stating worries, seeking reassurances, avoiding anxiety-provoking situations, have trouble separating, be excessively irritable, rigid, or perfectionistic, or complain of medically unexplained physical symptoms (stomach and headaches, sleeplessness). Symptoms may feel frequent, intense, and/or disruptive to routines and family life.

Parents will enter a community of support, learn skilled responses to anxiousness, gain perspective around the relative severity of their family’s experience, and receive resources for where to seek additional help for their child if necessary.

Class is educational and not intended to take the place of therapy, but could be an adjunct in some cases.
